What a wonderful weather weekend so far. Chicago was lucky to get magnificent weather this weekend along with the 2015 NFL Draft downtown. The course was packed Friday, Saturday, and going into today. We will be aerating greens this evening and majority of the day Monday. We at Indian Boundary would like to thank you all for your patience as we go through this important process for our greens. This process can be a short term disruption to most golfers, but it does provide long term benefits to the golf course. Aerification provides three important objectives: relieves soil compaction, improves soil mixture for the roots, and prevents accumulation of excess thatch. In order for grass to grow at 3/16-inch, it must have deep, healthy roots. Good roots require oxygen. In good soil, they get the oxygen from tiny pockets of air trapped between the soil and sand particles.
